How to Attach & Position Your Spare Paddle
-
Choose your mounting point: Most paddlers attach the holders to the rear iako (the crossbar connecting the hull to the ama). This keeps the spare parallel to the main hull and safely out of the way of your stroke.
-
Space the clips properly: Position the two holders so they evenly support the blade and the T-grip. They need to be wide enough to balance the paddle, but close enough to eliminate any wobble.
-
Orient the blade: Secure the T-grip toward the rear of the canoe and angle the paddle blade downward. This setup minimizes wind drag and prevents the spare from interfering with your paddling motion.
