The OSPREY is the original S18S G2 or S18S EXP renamed to help eliminate name similarity confusion with our other 18' surf skis. The Osprey hull has increased its speed by increasing the size of the cut-aways and narrowing the bow sections from the S18S G1. The rocker profile has been tweaked along with the trim to optimize the ski for efficient paddling and catching waves. All done without losing any stability and staying within USCA fast sea kayaks regulations.

The deBrito bailer makes for dry starts, paddles and rapid water removal, carbon handles at each end and a large oval hatch in the stern. The comfort, under-stern/over-stern fittings, side handles, water bottle holder, leash attachment and deck bungees still come standard on the Osprey. Making this a boat you need to put in your fleet.

Construction Options:

Advantage: The Advantage construction delivers the perfect balance of weight, stiffness, durability, and value - making it a standout choice for paddlers who want performance without the premium price tag. Built with a heat-cured, infused epoxy Fiberglass laminate and reinforced with a Soric® core, this layup is exceptionally tough and highly resistant to punctures, giving you confidence across a range of conditions. Finished with a durable gelcoat, it’s designed to handle regular use while maintaining solid on-water efficiency. Ideal as a race-ready option on a tighter budget, the Advantage construction hits the sweet spot for price-to-weight ratio, making it one of the most popular choices for paddlers looking to maximise performance per dollar.

Excel: Engineered for speed and efficiency, this ultra-light, high-stiffness construction combines Kevlar® and Fiberglass in a heat-cured epoxy laminate, finished with a durable gelcoat. A Nomex® honeycomb core enhances rigidity while keeping overall weight to a minimum, delivering exceptional on-water performance. Kevlar® reinforcement adds valuable impact strength, making this layup a smart choice for paddlers chasing a lighter, faster ski without sacrificing structural integrity. Ideal for speed or performance-focused paddlers, it offers a responsive, lively feel with every stroke. While prioritising weight savings and speed, this construction is less impact-resistant than the Multi-Sport or Advantage options, making it best suited to paddlers who value performance in cleaner conditions.

Multi Sport: Built for performance and durability, Multi Sport construction features a single-skin laminate hull crafted from premium Carbon and Kevlar® with a clear gelcoat finish. The result is a lightweight yet tough construction that delivers the ideal balance of flex and stiffness - designed to handle real-world paddling conditions with confidence. Whether you’re navigating class I–II rapids, pushing through shallow water, or opening it up on the ocean and flats, this hull is made to perform across environments without compromise.

  • Over Stern Steering - Easy change to over stern steering, with rudder post and steering line tubes pre-installed
  • Seating - Ergonomic seat with rounded back for good rotation, low hump and integrated water-bottle holder, cockpit handles and lock bar
  • Refined Bow - Peaked deck helps to shed water in the rough stuff and allows for a much more narrow catch. Optimised hull in the bow greatly reduces drag, but keeps stability
  • Bow and Stern Handles - Ergonomic carry handles provide a comfortable lift to and from the water
  • Storage Compartments - 2 Water tight storage compartments with bulkheads provide ample storage for camping or long distance racing
  • Footbrace - 3-point foot brace allows for a powerful leg drive and easy responsive steering with toe pedals
  • Under-Stern Rudders - Various sized carbon rudders for efficient steering in any condition
  • Low-Volume Cockpit - Venturi bullet bailers make for quick draining of the cockpit when underway or close for flat or cold water paddling
  • Stability & Speeds - Design around the USCA 18' kayak regulations with long and efficient hull lines, a slender bow for low form and a low wave drag for a smooth and fast running hull
